Getting to Reef Encounter

  • Fly into Cairns International or Domestic Airport
  • Fast catamaran transfers from Cairns daily to Reef Encounter on Reef Experience.
  • Spectacular scenic helicopter transfer *Extra cost, 2 people required to operate.
  • Reef Experience transfers board at 7:30am every day returning on your final day between 4 and 4:30pm

Important Information for Scuba Diving

We have a passion to show you Australia’s Great Barrier Reef so please make sure you understand the scuba diving laws.

Queensland, Australia has some of the strictest scuba diving rules in the world  but also the safest scuba diving record.   We are regulated by the Queensland Government Code of Practice and comply with all rules including medical as is the law.

To avoid disappointment on your day of travel we strongly recommend that all of our passengers complete our dive medical questionnaire prior to booking as some medical conditions, age and / or medications may prevent you from scuba diving.   It is always our mission to provide our passengers with the very best Great Barrier Reef experience.

Flying after Scuba Diving

For a single no decompression scuba dive, you should not fly or go to altitude for at least 18 hours after a scuba dive.  For multiple dives you should not fly for 24 hours after your last dive. If Skydiving or Hot Air Ballooning you must wait 24 hours after your dive. We recommend waiting a minimum 24 hours whenever possible

  • One of the most scenic coastal drives in Australia along the Captain Cook Highway to Port Douglas.
  • The Wildlife  Habitat – See the endangered cassowary and other Aussie wildlife. The opportunity to have your photo taken holding a koala, snake or crocodile (extra cost).

  • Daintree River Ferry – Cross and enter Daintree National Park into Cape Tribulation.
  • Picnic Lunch.
  • Cape Tribulation Jungle Surfing. Fly through the trees on zip lines. Have a bird’s eye view into the canopy and out to the reef.

  • 07:30 – Bus transfers commence from Cairns City accommodation.
  • 0900 – Arrive at The Wildlife Habitat (Port Douglas).
  • 1100 – Daintree River Cruise.
  • 1200 – Alexandra Lookout.
  • 1230 – Picnic Lunch.
  • 1345 – Jungle Surfing Canopy Tour.
  • 1630 – Depart Cape Tribulation.
  • 1930 – Arrive back to Cairns.

  • Weight Restrictions – Maximum Weight 120kg/260lbs (19 Stone)
  • Not recommended  for pregnant women.
  • No prior experience or specific fitness required.
